Caroline from @marriedand29ish is mum to 5 year old Emily. She documents sweet snippets from family life in North Cotswolds, together with a hearty serving of amazing travel content. We loved chatting with Caroline about holidays with kids! She shares with us how travelling with her daughter is getting easier as she grows, what they look for in family holidays, and the tips and gadgets they swear by for smoother trips.
Check out the interview below!
- How old are your kids?
I have one daughter and she turned five in April 2022.
- When / where was the last time you travelled with them?
The last time we travelled abroad was over the Easter holidays where we went to visit family in Valencia, Spain.
- Where do you plan to go next?
We have a holiday booked to Dubai in August!
- What’s it like travelling with kids in general, what have you adapted on your trips?
When my daughter was younger, I won’t lie, it was a little stressful as she obviously needed more items packed, bottles and what nots! She also needed so much more to keep her entertained on the flight whereas these days it’s a lot less chaotic! Plus, she is slowly becoming less and less of a fussy eater so the need to pack allllll the snacks is easing off – thankfully!
- What are you kids’ favourite travelling snacks?
Brioche buns are now a favourite which is super handy as they are also pretty filling!
- Do you prefer to travel by train, plane, or boat?
We haven’t travelled to another county by train or boat so I would have to say plane!
- What’s your ideal family vacation?
Somewhere hot, somewhere with an amazing kids’ pool and somewhere that is all inclusive (or as close to it as possible)! There is nothing like walking down to a breakfast buffet!
- With young kids, do you prefer early morning flight or late-night flights?
Early morning as there is more chance that they might nod off on the plane. This is yet to happen to me but I live in hope!
- Any travel tips you swear by?
Play-Doh for the plane, if you’re able to do valet parking then pay the extra – it is always worth it and if you download a film to a device then make sure they will actually play when you turn the WIFI off! I got caught on an eight-hour flight thinking I had all the films downloaded only to find I didn’t – bad times!
- Travel gadget / gadgets your kids love?
Fidget spinners!
Thanks for sharing, Caroline, we can’t wait to virtually join in on your upcoming family trips!
