The Best Time to Visit Horsens with Children
When travelling to Horsens with children, you should know that every season offers a unique experience. In spring, the cherry trees blossom at the boulevard leading up to the Prison Museum. During summer the shallow, child-friendly coastlines offer some of Denmark’s best beaches. During fall the foliage colors the Danish Highlands a deep orange, and winter drizzles snow on the rooftops and allows for an authentic Danish cold plunge.
Danish kids play outside all year round, but if it’s raining you can always go to one of the indoor playgrounds, child-friendly museums or public indoor pools.
In August you can join Northern Europe’s largest medieval festival with lots of fun for the whole family. This is a free entrance.
During the Christmas period, the city centre of Horsens is covered with twinkling lights and offers lots of free “hygge” – such as a Christmas train, carousel, concerts and traditional Danish hot rice porridge. The largest Christmas market takes place at Fængslet (The Prison) in November.
